Saranac Lake will be showing their community spirit and support for its Olympic Athletes heading to the Winter Olympics in Sochi, with an “Olympic Send-off Rally” Next week… The event is slated for Monday, February 3rd, at the Harrietstown Town Hall Auditorium.. from 5-6 PM. Saranac Lake Mayor Clyde Rabideau was in the village offices Monday afternoon and we asked him about the event.. The event gathers parents and friends as well as supporters of the 7 Olympic athletes who are in Sochi Russia to compete in the Olympic Games and who call the Adirondacks their home.. During their event the Mayor plans to video tape the audience and send it to the athletes as inspiration.. We also spoke with Mayor Rabideau about the Snowball Toss on Sunday February 2nd – Part of the first weekend of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival.. The weather looks perfect for Winter Carnival Activities and Mayor Rabideau says in his second year, they’ve made a few adjustments and while the event is free, any donations will be given to High Peaks Hospice..
Saturday’s events include the Ladies Fry Pan Toss, The Woodsmen’s exhibition, a Curling Exhibition, and the Lighting of the IcePalace and Fireworks sponsored by CapeAir
Then on Sunday before the Super Bowl – The Mayor’s Snowball Toss Tournament at Riverside Park and the Arctic Bar B Que presented by the Friends of Mt Pisgah..
