Ice Palace Construction Continues

In Saranac Lake on Tuesday, the cold weather was tempered by the sunshine and the lack of wind which made it possible for construction of the Winter Carnival Ice Palace to continue and we caught up with the Chairman of the Ice Palace Dean Baker, when we spoke with him, he had just stepped down from the bucket of one of the skid steers and was literally covered from head to toe in white ice shavings from the opening they have been cutting for the main entrance to the throne room..

Ice Palace Construction will continue weather permitting through the next week and a half leading up to winter carnival and thanks to Robin Johnson for taking some time to speak with us about his plans for the carvings, and to Palace Committee Chairman Dean Baker for the update.. We’ve posted a few pictures of Dean up on the Skid Steer cutting away.. If I were Mark Kurtz these particular pictures might have even made it into the slide show..  Our Coverage of Winter Carnival on WNBZ is brought to you by Plattsburgh Ford.. We’ll check in on the carvings again in a few days to see how things are going and bring you an update here on WNBZ….
