Winter Carnival Gets a Princess and a Button

North Country Community College has announced that Briana Muñoz was elected by fellow NCCC students attending the Saranac Lake campus to be the next Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Princess.

Briana is actively engaged with the college community and the community at large. On campus, she tutors in the Learning Assistance Center and is the Secretary of the Environmental Club. In the community, Briana is a volunteer with the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service and coaches ice skating for the Malone Figure Skating Club, an active club of over 80 youth. In addition, she works at the Breakfast Club restaurant in Lake Placid.

An avid lover of sports, Briana hikes, figure skates, and kayaks. She is also proud to be a 2008 Junior National Figure Skating Champion and the recipient of a bronze medal for luge in the 2010 Empire State Games. Briana is bilingual in English and German, and has been accepted to SUNY Geneseo to pursue a degree in Biology. Her long-range goal is to become a physician’s assistant.

“I’m so excited for Briana and pleased to see the College connecting with the Community,” said Bobbie Karp, NCCC Director of Campus and Student Life. “She positively models academic, personal and professional success and is clearly supported by the student body.”  Briana is very proud to be representing North Country Community College and honored to be participating in this historical and treasured community event.

The 117th annual Saranac Lake Winter Carnival will be held Jan. 31 – Feb. 9, 2014, with an array of activities beginning with the Coronation at the Harrietstown Town Hall on Main Street on January 31st at 7:30PM.
