Education Forum Questions Common Core Testing

High Stakes Standardized Testing and the Effects of the Common Core Education Standards on Students, Teachers, and school administrators.. That’s the topic of an education forum in Plattsburgh Thursday Evening.. 

The weather didn’t put the damper on an education forum in Yokum Hall at SUNY Plattsburgh on Thursday Evening…   At issue, the question of high stakes standardized testing. The forum is attended by parents, teachers and their representatives… The presenters are statewide and nationally recognized figures in the movement.. Monty Neal runs fair test dot org.. Leoni Haimson represents a parent group called “class size matters” Her group brought one of the lawsuits against Inbloom against their collection of data and the concept proposed by the State Education Department to place that data in one central location on the web..  Tim Farley is a Principal from Kinderhook who is taking a brave stance as an administrator talking about his opposition to standardized testing and recommending that parents opt out of the testing..  Don Carlisto represents the Teachers Association in Saranac Lake.. He says the number of concerned parents in attendance despite the weather makes it’s own statement, and he says that one thing about the amount of testing is that no one has been able to calculate how much it really impacts school budgets..
