K&J – Regionalism in the North Country

Today we’re at a First of it’s kind event for the Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce which was held at the Wild Center on Friday Night…  Stephanie Radcliff is the Executive Director of the Wild Center, which is an integral part or the community in Tupper Lake…  She was looking over the activity in the main lobby at the Wild Center, which is where our conversation began.. The Wild Center is just one of many beneficiaries of a new regional approach to business, and Regionalism is also the theme for the evening… North Country Chamber of Commerce President Gary Douglas highlighting the position and importance of a Chamber of Commerce for a community as well as how Tupper Lake ties into the North Country Chamber of Commerce. He says the association of the chambers in the region has made their efforts more effective overall..

The Regionalism approach, Douglas says, has given them an advantage because they’ve been allowed to establish what the strategic Sectors were for the North Country..  The Regional Economic Development Council has been able to identify Biotech in the Saranac Lake Area, Transportation Equipment in the Plattsburgh Area..
