Mulverhill Underscores Importance of Sex Offender Registry

Franklin County Sheriff Kevin Mulverhill is reminding citizens to use the online sex offender registration and notification center called OFFENDER WATCH which can be found on the Franklin County Sheriff’s web site . Mulverhill says OFFENDER WATCH helps monitor and track all of the sex offenders in Franklin County and sends them reminders when the sex offenders have to re register, have their photos updated or move. It also enables Franklin County citizens to search for the presence of registered sex offenders and predators in proximity to their homes, place of work, schools and day cares.

Mulverhill says, the purpose of the program is to lessen the anxiety of citizens by proactively alerting them should an offender/predator move within proximity to them, and to enhance the security and safety of Franklin County citizens. Citizens can also receive email alerts advising of sexual offenders and sexual predators moving into their area and other important crime related information at no cost and the information is immediately updated and available 24 hours a day.Another routine implemented by Sheriff Mulverhill is his annual report which he makes available to the public to keep everyone informed as to their yearly accomplishments…

Corrections division – This years report, Mulverhill says, documents one of the growing issues they’ve been facing of over crowding in their jail as far as women inmates. They can house 127 inmates total, however, only 14 of the beds are reserved for females which …Mulverhil says when he first started 3 years ago, he initiated an alternative to incarceration called the home monitoring program which has helped in inmate population as well as keeping the cost down considerably… Mulverhill says his report documents all of the day to day activies of the department and its employees in respect to all aspects of the jail. He says his civil division also accounts for a lot of the leg work despite a small staff. While the Sheriffs department does not have its own patrol division, Mulverhill says they make themselves available and try to help out whenever they can..
