In honor of Earth Day, The Village of Lake Placid Electric Department and the New York Power Authority are partnering again for the 14th year to sell trees. Administrator for the Tree Power Program, Virginia Partridge says one of the job descriptions for the Lake Placid Electric Department this time of year is selling trees. Since 2002, they have sold over 10,000 trees to Lake Placid residents.
Partridge says, The New York Power Authority has access to several New York nurseries willing to supply the trees a minimal cost to make this program possible. . The main goal is ultimately the energy benefits these trees provide along with the added bonus of the beautification of Lake Placid.
Partridge says, it is important to this program to keep the cost low for homeowners So they do ask that commercial landscapers do not submit orders because it would ruin the integrity of the program.
Partridge says, this year they are offering A balled and burlapped 4 to 5 foot tree of your choice of Colorado blue spruce, red maple, Norway spruce, sugar maple, flowering choice, honey locust and little leaf lindon. And if you need help, the electric company can give you a hand.
The price of the trees is buy one at $85.00, get one free and the deadline to place a tree order is April 29th.
