On April 7th, 2014, at approximately 10:40 a.m., members of the Plattsburgh City Police Department Special Response Team located the body of a subject matching the description of a missing SUNY Plattsburgh student, 20-year-old Kodi K. Beckles. The body was located in a wooded area behind Knight Automotive, 383 State Route 3 in the town of Plattsburgh.
The scene was secured and members of the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Troop B Forensic Identification Unit responded to the scene. Clinton County Coroner David Donah was notified and also responded to the scene where he pronounced the subject deceased at 11:19 a.m.
The scene was processed by State Police and the Plattsburgh City Police Department. The body was then authorized for removal to Albany Medical Center where an autopsy will be performed by Dr. Michael Sikirica on April 8, 2014.
The death remains under investigation. The deceased is tentatively being identified as Kodi K. Beckles.
Friends reported Beckles missing the evening of April 5th, 2014, to SUNY Plattsburgh Police after he failed to attend a meeting on campus earlier that day. Police established that Beckles had attended an off-campus party on Friday night April 4, 2014, in the vicinity of Cornelia and Wells St in the city of Plattsburgh. He was last seen leaving the party on foot between 12:30 and 1:00am April 5th (early Saturday morning).
