A glitch in the network switching at the WNBZ studios in Saranac Lake on Wednesday caused an internal failure in the digital operations and brought the broadcast faculties as well as the online content to a halt for more than three hours. The resulting switch to backup systems is typically seamless but as with any well intentioned plan nothing ever goes quite like it should. Needless to say, the culprit was identified and turned out to be one of the servers on our network running windows 8. This was actually no surprise to us as Microsoft seems to be desperately trying to keep up with APPLE while ignoring it’s major base of customers who need a PC based operating system to effectively run their networks, not an operating system designed to copy OSX or Mavericks or one designed for a portable device. The infected server was removed from our system and hopefully all is restored to full health as we proceed to check and re-check the issue and to identify ways to avoid the problem in the future.. We pass along our apologies for any inconveniences this may have caused and thanks for listening and continuing to follow us online..
