Still Going – But Closer to the Goal

This might look like the construction work on Broadway which has been planned for not months, but years. Actually Saranac Lake DPW crews are completing their work on the water main which ruptured Wednesday morning at about 10:30 am on Lake Flower Avenue..  We touched bases with the overnight crew at about 3am Thursday Morning and they said the repairs were close to being complete..  They were running the final pressure tests and hoping to have the water turned back on for village businesses and residents who have been without water since the break.

A Boil Water Order is in effect as follows;

YOU ARE HEREBY ORDERED TO BOIL ALL WATER FOR DRINKING AND CULINARY PURPOSES. THIS ORDER IS BEING ISSUED PURSUANT TO SECTION 1107 OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH LAW. THIS ORDER IS BEING ISSUED TO THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS ONLY:

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil in a clean container, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using; use bottle water certified by NYSDOH; or use water from a public water system approved by NYSDOH. Boiled or bottled water certified by NYSDOH should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation when water service is restored and until further notice.
The Boil Water Order is being issued as a precaution because of the drop in water line pressures and loss of water due to a water main break. Consumers will be notified as soon as the Boil Water Order is rescinded.
The Boil Water Order shall only be lifted when repairs are complete and two consecutive daily samples show no bacteriological contamination.   BY ORDER OF THE COMMISSIONER OF HEALTH
