Mostly Positive Results for School Budgets – Minerva is the Exception

81% of Voters in Lake Placid give the green light to Superintendent Roger Catania and the Lake Placid School Board to move forward with their proposed budget..  529 turned out for the vote in Lake Placid, the passed the budget, and although there were a few glitches in Wilmington, Lake Placid’s School Board will have three new faces.. Enzo Villani, Patricia Stanton and Camelia Sheridan.. Their terms will be different and the official count, once it’s released will determine which new board member ends up in which seat..

The Saranac Central Budget Passes 298 to 42…  In AuSable Valley, the budget passed 451 to 284.. In Beekmantown, there were 815 votes cast on the Budget.. 621 were in favor of passing the budget..  The Chateaugay school budget passes with 86% in favor of the budget.. and in Chazy the budget passes 251 to 45..  Budget Proposals also passed in Elizabethtown, Keene, and Malone.. In Moriah, the vote was 289-66 in favor of the budget.. 73% voted in favor of the budget in Peru and in Plattsburgh, the School Board received 1,005 votes in favor of their $29.5 Million Dollar Budget.. 462 were against..   78% of Voters also approved moving to three year terms for School Board Members in Plattsburgh.. as opposed to the current 5 year terms.. The Minerva School Board was asking voters for a 13.5% increase in the Tax Levy.. Voters dismissed that request voting down the proposed budget by 39 votes.. 142 were in favor of the budget and 181 against..

052114 - School Board Vote950 Residents of the Saranac Lake Central School District voted on Tuesday to approve their budget.. and of those who voted, 80% were in favor of the proposed budget..   A straw poll was also presented to voters and one of the board’s Student Representatives – Bailey Hendricks helped with the count..  The final Count for the Veterans Exemption.. 518 votes in Favor of the Veteran’s Tax Exemption and 192 against..  Saranac Lake School Superintendent Diane Fox says it becomes a bit of a tax shift because the tax levy would remain the same..  The Veterans Exemption, based on the straw poll is something the community would approve and the next step is to hold a public hearing followed by a vote of the board as to whether or not to implement the Veteran’s Exemption.
