Congressman Bill Owens is again throwing his weight behind efforts to approve the Keystone XL pipeline project.. In a statement, Owens says “he is fully supportive of efforts in the Senate to approve construction of the Keystone XL pipeline and he continued by saying “he has long called for the approval of the pipeline arguing that it will create jobs by partnering with Canada, a trusted neighbor and largest trading partner.” The congressman added that he hopes there are enough votes for passage in the Senate and says he will support the legislation if it comes up for a vote in the House.”
As Co-Chair of the Northern Border Caucus, a bipartisan coalition of Members seeking to enhance our trade with Canada to stimulate economic growth and job creation, Owens has long advocated for approval of the Keystone XL project. In early 2013, Owens supported the passage of the Northern Route Approval Act (H.R. 3) in order to approve the construction of the pipeline. At the same time, Owens also joined a bipartisan coalition of nearly 150 Members of Congress calling on President Barack Obama to move the project forward as quickly as possible.
