Planning for Plattsburgh’s Beautification

Yellow and Purple Concrete Dividers are beginning to appear in Downtown Plattsburgh.. mainly in anticipation of the summer season and outdoor dining.. The city every year allows local restaurants to reserve parking spaces in front of their establishments for outdoor dining and this is just one piece of the pie when it comes to downtown..   Councilwoman Becky Kasper says they’ve taken up the issue of beautification with a subcommittee of the entire council which met recently.. and so far there’s been some real interest in finding ways to make the city more inviting..  Kasper says the topic of Housing Blight came up once again…  and she says the issue of broken down properties is really creating a problem..  Another aspect of community development in Plattsburgh stems from an idea presented by Councilman Josh Kretzer whose proposed the concept of turning parts of Downtown into pedestrian Only zones..
