Plattsburgh’s Mayor’s Cup Adds Movie Night to the Lineup

050114 - Andy McDoiugal 01There’s a new twist on an old tale of Lake Champlain coming to this year’s 37th Annual Mayors Cup… This year’s festival is July 10th through the 13th.. A festival with a long history of free family fun celebrating the region, the community and Lake Champlain… and in addition to all of the events for landlubbers and on Lake Champlain, The Newman Center will be home some extra film footage during Mayor’s Cup Movie Night… Andy McDougal.. Says this summer is the fifth anniversary of the most compelling sighting of CHAMP ever recorded in the neighborhood of downtown Plattsburgh on Wilcox Dock and he’s suggested marking it as part of the Mayor’s Cut. Since getting the green light from the Mayor’s office. McDougal says he’s reserved the Newman Center for a CHAMP recognition film event on Friday July 11th following the performance of Keegan Nolan in the Bandshell. McDougal is holding an original print of “The Lost World” and says that film will provide images close to CHAMP. “I don’t have 16 mm footage of CHAMP but this contains a lot of CHAMP-like imagery and so it certainly fits the bill.” One of the reels Mcdougal has is a reel or two of sailing images and plans to open Movie Night with a look at a few of these videos. Our Coverage of the 37th Annual Mayor’s Cup on WNBZ is presented by Price Chopper.. Listen for regular updates of the event, now through July here on WNBZ…
