Starting Tuesday morning (5/6/14) in Lake Placid… Route 73 is closing at 7am between Mill Pond Drive and McIntyre Way and will remain closed right through May 23rd… Lake Placid Village Trustee Art Devlin says fortunately it’s only going to take two weeks.. “Originally they were going to continue through Memorial Day but we’ve been working with the contractor to boil the whole project down to two weeks.” Devlin said. “There’ve been a few changes to the plan for the trunk sewer line as well which was going to go right under Lamb Lumber but now with the bridge work, the plan is to move the line so that it won’t be underneath Lamb Lumber, what if the building is sold in the future, or something else happens.. It was just a good idea.”
Most of the piping on Main Street in Lake Placid actually runs right under all of the stores and the village has just applied for a grant to survey the piping and to investigate the potential options for moving that infrastructure as well.. The Work on Route 73 is a continuation of the work that began last year from the sewer plant out to this point..
Devlin says the road from just above Lamb Lumber will be closed even to the pedestrians and people that live there daily and it will come over to the intersection at the IGA..Cars will be detoured onto Mill Pond Drive, over to Old Military Road and Newman Road and Trucks will be re-directed to Old Military Road..
