South Catherine to Become One Way Street During Construction

In about three weeks, South Catherine Street in Plattsburgh will become a one way street to accommodate the re-construction project..  Kevin Farrington is the City’s Engineer… He says the concept of taking South Catherine Street to one way headed south will make it much easier for the contractor to handle the work and actually allowed for a bid which came in close to a Million Dollars under budget.  South Catherine Street runs through Councilwoman Rachelle Armstrong’s WARD.. She says they’ve been coordinating regularly with the city engineers office to try to find the best way to get the work done with the least impact on the local area.. The city will be developing a brochure for local residents to help everyone explain the implications of the work and to provide a look at the one way loop which will be in place while the work is being done.  If all goes well, the contractor should be getting underway in the first week of June.. and South Catherine will become one way for the duration shortly thereafter..
