The Clinton Community College Board of Trustees announces that Fred Smith has been appointed Interim President for the College. Mr. Smith’s appointment is subject to the approval of the SUNY Board of Trustees. Prior to SUNY approval, he will serve as Officer-In-Charge, a position that grants all the responsibilities and powers of the presidency. Smith has a great deal of experience with higher education and the SUNY system, having been a faculty member and administrator at multiple SUNY institutions which include Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs at SUNY Cobleskill and Interim President at North Country Community College. Mr. Smith is familiar with Clinton Community College, as well, serving this past academic year as the Interim Vice President for Student Affairs in addition to holding the position of Dean of Academic Affairs from 1989-1994. “It has been a pleasure to work at Clinton and I look forward to staying on in this new capacity. We have a great team of faculty and staff, and I am excited to lead them in continuing to serve our students and community,” states Mr. Smith. Smith holds his MBA from Syracuse University and BS from SUNY Albany. He is also a CPA in the State of New York. Plans for beginning the search process for a new President will be announced later this year. Clinton Community College is a member of the State University of New York.
