Museum Day in Plattsburgh over the weekend also reigns in the Grand Opening of the Plattsburgh Air Force Base Museum.. The Museum takes a look back at the history of the Plattsburgh Air force Base and provides an opportunity to remember what it was like for service men stationed at the only nuclear missile base east of the Mississippi.. One of the advantages of being at a grand opening, especially for a museum with the history of Plattsburgh Air Force Base is that the people who were there at the time came back.. which gave us the opportunity to talk with some about their memories of that time, and of the Cuban Missile Crisis..
The silos went down into the ground about 180 feet.. which is a long way down, especially if you have to walk.. plus some of them were pretty far away from the base..
Click on the audio link or the play button (coming shortly) and join us for the conversation on the K&J Show. We’re looking back at the Cuban Missle Crisis and talking with Veterans about their tours of duty at the newly opened Plattsburgh Air Force Base Museum..
