Lennon Resigns from Saranac Lake School Board

After ten years of service to the Saranac Lake School Board with many as President, Deb Lennon will be stepping down as of June 30th..  The School Board’s Vice President Clyde Baker read her letter to the board during their regular meeting on Wednesday evening. “The board will begin the work of filling Deb’s shoes at the next meeting on July 1st,” Baker Said, “and I want to thank her for her service, not only as president but she’s been active in the School District before that working on Playgrounds and other efforts.”

The School Board is also bidding farewell to two Student Representatives on the Board.. Joseph Atkinson and Bailey Hendricks and Superintendent Diane Fox presented a resolution to Board Members Terry Tubrity and Lisa Paschke for their dedicated and exemplary service to the Saranac Lake Central School District..

With the resignation of School Board President Deb Lennon, there may be a scenario where Terry or Lisa could be re-appointed to the board to fill the final year of her term, or the may decide to appoint someone different to fill the vacant board seat..  During the Public session Matt Raymond, a resident of the district suggested there should be another election to fill the seat but with only a year left in Lennon’s term, the board appeared to brush his comments aside in favor of an appointment during their organizational meeting on July 1st..

One other note, the school board is seeking a new Athletic Director.. Prior School Boards in Saranac Lake had converted this position from a full time position to an additional set of duties for a staff member, and while Mark Farmer will remain in the High School as Dean of Students the high school will have a new Athletic Director for the upcoming school year.
