Reviewing the Codes – Public Hearing Tuesday

In The Village of Saranac Lake, the Code Review Committee is holding a public hearing this evening in their efforts to review the code and subsequently make recommendations to the Village Board as to any changes they see as important to bringing the laws up to date.. A resident of Saranac Lake, Caperton Tisot expressed concern to the board at Monday nights Meeting that the process was moving too fast and that there hadn’t been ample time for the public to review the very large document which the committee has been working on for the past four years… Village Trustee Paul Van Cott is a member of the Code Committee “We are holding a formal public hearing tonight at the Cantwell Community Room of the Saranac Lake Free Library and the goal is to hear from the public on issues affecting the code. We then deliberate and once the work is complete we’ll make recommendations to the Village Board at which point they’ll start the process again.”

Village Trustee Allie Pelliteiri has also been participating on the Code Committee and he agreed that there needed to be more input before the committee delivers it’s recommendations to the board..The Committee reviewing the Village Codes had originally hoped to present their findings to the Village Board before July 1st but based on comments from Monday Night, it appears there may be a short delay before they can complete their mission..
