The First Anniversary of “First Weekends” in Downtown Plattsburgh

This weekend marks the first anniversary of the first “First Weekend”  and activities are planned to celebrate the event and invite residents into downtown.. First Weekends in Plattsburgh will be closing City Hall Place, and lower court Saturday at 11:00 AM.  And due to the closure all parking places including the city parking lot on Lower Court St., should be vacant by 11:00 AM. The Durkee Street parking lot, will be avalailable for parking.. The event includes family friendly activities from 1:00PM through 5:00PM and then a free concert on City Hall Place by the Blind Owl Band.

The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts is planning activities in conjunction with First Weekends.. The Arts Center will have a booth along City Hall Place which will feature kids craft activities, face painting, sidewalk chalk and information on upcoming Stand events and the summer class schedule..  On Sunday, “The Sinatra Show” with the Joey Thomas Big Band plays at the Strand Theater at 3:00pmand tomorrow in the main gallery on Brinkerhoff Street, the Arts Center will also be hosting a children’s workshop led by Amy Guglielmo from 1 to 2:30pm… The Children’s workshop is based on her “100 Days of Flowers” series and is free and open to the public.
