20 year old Trevor J. SIsto of Fort Covington is charged with Attempted Assault in the First Degree (Felony), Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree (Felony) , Endangering the Welfare of a Child (3 Counts) (Misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor) and Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident (Misdemeanor) Police were called to investigate a vehicle recklessly operating on Village Streets. During the investigation the suspect vehicle was located, and in an attempt to stop the vehicle, it purposely struck a Lake Placid Police Department electric car, causing extensive damage and injuring the occupant, who was a Lake Placid Police Traffic Control Officer. The suspect vehicle, which was a 2011 Ford FI50 then fled the scene. The operator was driving recklessly into oncoming traffic and on occupied sidewalks with numerous pedestrians. Police attempted to follow and stop the suspect vehicle, without compliance. The operator committed numerous vehicle and traffic violations in the village before the suspect vehicle was located after it crashed in Ray Brook on State Route 86. The investigation revealed that there were 3 underage children in the suspect vehicle during the reckless operation, and purposeful eluding of responding police officers . The Lake Placid Police Department worked closely with the New York State Police during this investigation and additional charges are pending. The defendant was processed, arraigned and remanded to the Essex County Jail in lieu of$ I00,000.00 bail.
