Mayor’s Cup events kick off this afternoon at 5:30pm on Brinkerhoff Street in Plattsburgh with an outdoor concert on the lawn at the North Country Cultural Center For the Arts.. That’s Followed by The Stowaways on the Waterfront at the City Docks and then by the 8th Annual Boat Parade of Lights at dusk.. Jake DeSynder is one of the organizers of the event. “The Boat Parade of Lights is designed to include everyone, not just sailors in the waterfront activities and in it’s eighth year, it’s grown in popularity.”
Plattsburgh Mayor Jim Calnon says he’s pleased to have helped to bring the Stoweaways to the City Docks for a concert prior to the Boat Parade. They begin at 7pm an will play until the parade just after dusk. The Mayor’s Discretionary Fund is going to support the additional activities for the crowd at the Boat Basin.
The Sunrise Rotary in Plattsburgh and the City of Plattsburgh are Sailing into the 37th Annual Mayor’s Cup Festival July 10th through the 13th.. A festival with a long history of free family fun celebrating the region, the community and Lake Champlain… There’s a new event that’s been added to this year’s events on the water… It’s the Mayor’s Cup Kayak Day from 1 to 3pm Tomorrow.. Something new this year for Landlubbers is the Mayor’s Cup Soccer Challenge… Andy Wiley is one of the organizers of that event which will be held this year in Conjunction with Mayor’s Cup Activities.. Much of the fundraising for the event comes through T-Shirt Sales… Kathy Duley says The Mayor’s Cup Backpacks are a new affordable way to sport the Mayor’s Cup Logo…
Katie Genette Caska is the logo designer – “It’s designed to show the fun colerfulness of the event..” The Logo itself has a big number 37 in the Blue and Green Spinnaker on a purple boat – the color of the T-Shirts by the way.. with complimentary blue Red Green and Yellow Flags with White letters spelling out Mayors Cup Regatta and Festival.. The Boat Parade of Lights tonight at Dusk.. and the stoweaways at the City Docks beforehand..
