Construction at The Adirondack Public Observatory is complete and the board is inviting the public to a grand opening celebration for its Roll-Off-Roof Observatory this Friday from 4 until 6pm..
The Roll-Off-Roof Observatory on Big Wolf Road in Tupper Lake has been under construction since 2012, but now its ready to be officially open for stargazing. The facility is open to the public and is meant to be a resource for people of all ages and experience levels.
Several speakers will talk about the APO’s mission and its role in both the local and extended community, then talk about how the Roll-Off-Roof Observatory works. Then attendees will be treated to a tour of the new building.
The APO holds public stargazing every Friday night and private star parties by appointment. The group also runs a headquarter office at 127 Park St., Suite 1A, where the group runs after-school groups and other educational programs, and they often host free talks at The Wild Center.
