Skate Park Construction Delayed by Two Weeks

It appears breaking ground on the new Skate Park behind community Bank in Saranac Lake will be delayed another week pending a final review of insurance documents which the contract requires…   Right now, the Skate Park Committee has met all of the requirements of the contract with one exception, they have bids out to insurance companies to provide indemnity should there be a problem during construction and while that bid remains open, the DPW won’t be able to begin the work on site preparation..  Lindy Ellis is a member of the committee and she brought the Village Board up to date on the project..

AUDIO – 073014 – Skate Park Construction Delayed

The Skate Park Committee will be paying the village $3,000 for maintenance and repair of the facility and Ellis says they’re working with Northern Insuring to come up with some additional quotes to insure the project while it’s underway..  right now the quotes have come in at around $15,000 to insure everyone involved through the completion of the skateboard park.. and until that piece of the puzzle is worked out, the project will remain on hold..  The Village board and the DPW are set to allow the process to move forward once the insurance paperwork is in hand and all of the T’s have been crossed and the I’s dotted..
