The Saranac Lake Central School Board is back at full strength this morning.. They’ve chosen Dennis Dwyer to fill the seat recently vacated by School Board President Deb Lennon.. At Wednesdays Meeting, The School Board’s new President Clyde Baker proposed three names for final consideration.. Lisa Paschke who was the next highest vote getter in the most recent school board election, Dennis Dwyer, and Joan Scheaffer… School Board Member Shir Filler was concerned about assuring that the choice did not appear politically motivated.. especially when it came to Lisa’s candidacy..
Several of the board members commented during the process that one of the candidates, John Vinigrad had been very helpful during the budgeting process and hes been active on boards in the community but in two separate elections had not been elected by the public so while his experience brought some praise from the board, they were reluctant to bring his name further sighting the public’s input in past elections..
In the end 5 members chose Dennis Dwyer and Board member Katie Fischer voted for Lisa Paschke suggesting that she should be the top choice because she was the next highest vote getter in the election. Dennis will be seated with the board at their next meeting on the 14th, but it is uncertain when he will take the oath and be sworn in as this could happen any time between now and then.. He fills the seat until the next election and at that point, the candidate with the highest votes will then take over that seat on the board.
