The Women’s College Scholarship Club is offering three $1000 Continuing Education Scholarships to adults in the Saranac Lake School District (defined by its bus routes).
These scholarships are for adults who wish to return to school after an absence of several years in order to change or enhance careers. Applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Part-time students may apply. Adults who have already begun a program are eligible to apply.
Applications, along with instructions for applying, are available at the Financial Aid Office at North Country Community College, the Financial Aid Office at Paul Smith’s College, and the Saranac Lake Free Library.
Applicants must submit the following by Monday, May 11:
- The completed application
- A personal letter explaining goals
- Two letters of recommendation from non-family members
Winners will be notified by May 18. For more information, call Linda Beairsto, WCSC Continuing Education Scholarship Committee Chair, at 891-1153.
“Continuing education students tend to think they do not have a chance of winning,” explained Beairsto, “and so they often hesitate to apply. Since there are three scholarships this year and since they all go to Saranac Lake School District continuing education students, applicants have a fairly good chance of receiving a scholarship. We encourage you to apply!”
The three Continuing Education Scholarships, along with five Saranac Lake High School Scholarships, are all funded with money club members raised in 2014. Fundraising for 2015 will begin soon with their Taste of the Good Life Raffle. Thank you to all businesses and community members who support Women’s College Scholarship Club fund-raising efforts.
