ORDA: Helicopters Flying Concrete for New Whiteface Chairlift

The Olympic Regional Development Authority says helicopters are scheduled to be flying giant buckets of concrete today and tomorrow to pour the concrete pads for the new Lookout Mountain Triple Chair at Whiteface Mountain.

The helicopters are expected to be flying all day both days. ORDA says interested people are welcome to view the action from the base lodge, or take a Cloudsplitter Gondola ride up to Little Whiteface for an aerial view.

Spectators can also get a different perspective from atop Whiteface by driving up the Whiteface Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway.

As part of the Lookout Mountain expansion, Whiteface crews are working to open an expert run and triple chair to the east of the Slides in time for the upcoming ski season. Snowmaking will also be installed in the new area.

When completed beyond 2008-09, Lookout Mountain will have a total of three expert runs, one long intermediate trail, snowmaking, the triple chair, and more glades.  The intermediate trail will enable skiers and riders to connect to Kids Kampus and the main lodge.
