Jury Convicts Franklin County Man of Felony Reckless Endangerment

A jury rendered two guilty verdicts last week in the trial of Michael J. Garrow.

According to Franklin County District Attorney Derek Champagne, the 42-year-old man was in court on Thursday, August 20 to stand trial for indictments handed down in October of 2008. Garrow faced two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, both class-D felonies.

On April 23, 2008 Garrow was arrested in the Town of Chateaugay after he recklessly engaged in conduct which created – quote – “grave risk of death” to Keisha Garrow and Felicia Gonzales.

Prosecutors say Garrow displayed a depraved indifference to human life.

Jury selection was last Tuesday with testimony following on Wednesday and Thursday. During the trial, the jury learned that Garrow followed the victim’s vehicle while driving along County Route 11 over a bridge about 110 feet above the Chateaugay River.

Garrow then passed on a double yellow line and rammed the victim’s vehicle while on the bridge.

The jury went into deliberations after 3 p.m. last Thursday and rendered its decision before 7 o’clock that same evening.

Garrow was remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. He was represented by attorney Peter Dumas. Sentencing is set for October 5.

If he doesn’t receive probation, Garrow could serve up to seven years in state prison.
