Saranac Lake
Village Police arrested an 18-year-old male from Saranac Lake on
Monday, August 24 at 4 a.m. The subject, whose name is being
withheld due to youthful offender status, was arrested following an
investigation that he’d violated an order of protection on two
separate occasions. He’s been charged with two counts of
second-degree criminal contempt. He was arraigned in Saranac Lake
Village Court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $5,000
cash bail or $10,000 bond.
Elsewhere in
Saranac Lake, village police arrested a 27-year-old Saranac Lake man
on Friday, August 21 at 12:22 a.m. for providing alcohol to a person
under the age of 21. Jimmy M. Adams was arrested and charged with
first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child. He was released on an
appearance ticket to appear in village court at a later date.
On Sunday, August
23 at 8:45 p.m. Saranac Lake Village Police arrested 19-year-old
Tynan McKillip of Lake Placid. He was arrested on a bench warrant
issued by Saranac Lake Village Court due to an incident in which
McKillip allegedly violated the terms of a conditional discharge.
He’s been charged with violation of probation and was processed,
arraigned and released on his own recognizance to re-appear at a
later date.
In Saranac Lake,
the volunteer fire department responded to a call at 26 View Street
on Sunday, August 23 at 8:15 p.m. One unit and eight members arrived
at the scene, where it was discovered that a water leak inside the
house activated the alarm. Firefighters shut off the alarm and
returned to the station by 8:31 p.m.
Tupper Lake
Village Police arrested 24-year-old Matthew Hare of Tupper Lake on
Saturday, August 22 at 3:45 a.m. According to reports, he was pulled
over on McLaughlin Avenue for failing to keep right. A subsequent
investigation revealed Hare was intoxicated and in possession of an
open container of alcohol. He’s been charged with DWI and was
processed and released to appear in village court on August 31.
Also in Tupper
Lake, village police arrested 29-year-old Robert Woods of Saranac
Lake on Sunday, August 23 at 3:36 a.m. following reports of an
incident at the Five Hole Bar in Tupper Lake. Woods has been charged
with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was processed,
released and scheduled to appear in Tupper Lake Village Court at a
later date.
Two teens were
arrested on Saturday, August 23 around 8 p.m. after a traffic stop
on State Route 30. State police pulled over one individual for
driving with a loud exhaust and a subsequent investigation resulted
in the arrests of 19-year-old Justin W. Painter of Catskill and
18-year-old Emily W. Shaw of Chestertown. Police say Painter was
charged with possession of alcohol by a person under the age of 21.
Shaw has been charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. They
were processed and released to appear in Tupper Lake Town Court on
September 2 at 5 p.m.
Also in Tupper
Lake, state police arrested 43-year-old Bruce A. Richards of Tupper
Lake at approximately 12 a.m. on Sunday, August 23. While being
interviewed regarding a separate incident, Richards became agitated
and threatened troopers. He was charged with second-degree menacing
and was remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash
bail.
In Lake Placid,
village police arrested 61-year-old Laura M. Montgomery on Monday,
August 24 at 12:17 p.m. following an investigation into claims she
had taken items not belonging to her. Montgomery has been charged
with petit larceny and was released on an appearance ticket to Lake
Placid Village Court at a later date.
The Saranac Lake
Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call at 39 Grace Street –
that’s off the Old Lake Colby Road in Saranac Lake – on Sunday,
August 23 at 5:47 p.m. Reports indicate that lightning struck a
house on Sunday, sparking a fire. Three trucks and 20 members
arrived at the scene, where they used about 1,000 gallons of water
to extinguish the fire. Crews returned to the station at 8:07 p.m.
Saranac Lake
Village Police arrested 44-year-old Anne L. Bayruns of Saranac Lake
on Monday, August 24 at 4:52 p.m. Police received a civilian
complaint about an erratic driver on River Street who stated a
vehicle was being operated all over the roadway and onto a sidewalk,
nearly striking another vehicle. Upon stopping the vehicle, police
determined that Bayruns was intoxicated. She’s been charged with
aggravated driving while intoxicated and was processed and released
to a third party to appear in Saranac Lake Village Court at a later
date.
On Monday, August
24 at 2:22 p.m. Saranac Lake Village Police arrested a 24-year-old
female from Saranac Lake on an arrest warrant issued by village
court. Lauren M. Harvey allegedly violated the terms of an order of
protection issued by the Franklin County Family Court. She’s been
charged with second-degree criminal contempt and was processed,
arraigned and released to appear in Saranac Lake Village Court at a
later date.
And in
Lake Placid, village police arrested 19-year-old Matthew A. Sears of
Lake Placid on Monday, August 24 at 7:45 p.m. Sears was arrested
following an investigation into a domestic dispute, during which he
violated a stay away order of protection and while doing so harassed
the protected person in the presence of a child. Sears has been
charged with one count of first-degree criminal contempt and one
count of endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned and
remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
