Authorities in Broome County have apprehended the man wanted in
connection with a double-homicide that occurred in Dannemora earlier
this week.
According to Bureau of Criminal Investigation Captain Robert
LaFountain, sheriff’s patrols in Binghamton spotted Anthony “Tony”
Pavone’s black pickup truck in a motel parking lot.
The
52-year-old Morrisonville man was wanted for questioning in last
weekend’s shooting deaths of 52-year-old Timothy Carter and
43-year-old Patricia Howard. LaFountain says Pavone surrendered
around 4 a.m. Friday after law enforcement SWAT teams surrounded the
motel.
Police were called to Carter’s Dannemora residence at about 4 a.m.
Sunday after receiving reports that Pavone was trespassing and would
not leave. Reports indicate that Howard and Pavone – a former prison
guard – had dated but had recently broken up.
WNBZ will continue to update this
story as more information becomes available.
