Officials announced Thursday night that the new Tupper Lake Health
Center is ready to welcome its first patients.
Construction commenced about eight months ago at the site of the
medical offices on Wawbeek Avenue, across from the Adirondack
Medical Center Mercy Skilled Nursing Facility.
While
crews put the final touches in place, the health center will be
moved from its current location adjacent to AMC-Mercy to the newly
built medical office across the street. AMC spokesman Joe Riccio
said the center should begin holding office hours at its new
location beginning Monday.
The
office will be closed on Saturday to accommodate for the move.
Patrick Facteau is chief financial officer for AMC. He said in a
prepared statement that his team is proud to offer Tupper Lake
residents a new facility and expanded services.
“Not
only does the new health center offer increased space and privacy,
we believe it will serve as a valuable recruitment tool for
physicians and other health care providers,” he said.
Next
week, AMC is asking patients to register at the new building. Health
center and lab services will be offered in the new building, but
medical imaging remains at the existing center until mid-March.
Currently, AMC is awaiting the arrival of new imaging equipment;
once that arrives, medical imaging will be offered at the new site.
Facteau asked the public for patience as AMC completes the project.
“We are grateful to the community and
the support they have shown us throughout the duration of this
project,” he said.
Parking is available at the new health
center. The old physicians building will be demolished in the coming
weeks.
