Tupper Lake Village Police responded to reports of a subject making suicidal threats on Thursday at 11 p.m. after receiving a phone call from a family member. The caller said the subject – a 41-year-old Tupper Lake man – had barricaded himself in his home with a rifle. Officers responded to the location, secured a perimeter and began negotiating with the subject. The situation lasted through the evening and into the early morning hours of Friday, February 12. At about 9 a.m. Friday, the subject left his house and was taken into custody. He was then taken to a local hospital emergency room for evaluation. The Tupper Lake Village Police Department extended its gratitude to state troopers for their assistance in the matter.

Saranac Lake Village Police arrested 49-year-old Kevin A. Latt of Bloomingdale on Saturday at 9:50 p.m. According to reports, he was warned several times about his use of obscene language, and he later attempted to engage in a physical confrontation with officers on Main Street. Latt was charged with second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct; he was processed and released to appear in village court on February 22 at 5 p.m.

Saranac Lake Village Police arrested 24-year-old Brian D. Miller of Schenectady on Sunday at 3 a.m. According to reports, Miller was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation and found to be intoxicated; officers said a breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol content greater than .18 percent. Miller was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, processed at the station and arraigned before Saranac Lake Village Justice Paul Hermann. He was remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail.
