Local Officials Praise Gov’s Choice of Gillibrand for Senate  Governor Paterson’s selection of Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand to the Senate seat left vacant by Hillary Clinton is being praised by politicians, business leaders and environmentalists across the region.   Some say the move could also provide more political clout for upstate New York and the North Country, since Gillibrand has been representing a district that includes parts of the Adirondacks, Catskills and the Hudson Valley.  (Click here for the story)
