Plattsburgh Drug Dealer Accepts Plea Deal

A Plattsburgh man has reportedly accepted a plea deal and has admitted giving prescription drugs to a teenager who died of an overdose.

29 year-old Scott Miller was scheduled to go on trial next week.  Instead he appeared in Clinton County Court this week and plead guilty to a reduced felony drug sale charge and two drug possession counts, according to a report in the Plattsburgh Press-Republican.

Miller was arrested as police investigated the overdose death of 17 year-old Julia Del Signore in June.  He was not charged for the teen’s death but was accused of giving her illegal prescription drugs and possessing $65,000 worth of narcotic prescription medications and intravenous drug paraphernalia.

Miller is scheduled to be sentenced in May.  His attorney tells the Press-Republican that the plea deal includes a four year prison term and three years of post-release supervision.

He could have received a much longer prison sentence had he been convicted of the more than a dozen charges he originally was facing.
