Well - we finally did it - The RF engineer had us tuning for almost 8 hours in two days but we're at full power - thanks to the help of Lee Foster and Chris Brescia along with Tony Questa - I'm pleased to say that all went smoothly - Thanks so much for your patience.. Now we have a better sounding station (Better Bandwidth) with better coverage than even before this all began..

07/01/05 - The antenna is now close to being tuned and is ready for the final phase of tuning and will be off the air again today from now until we're finished and at full power...

As of 2:54pm - Antenna Current and Line Current are coming closer together which is good - probably another hour or two and we'll have it right on!

06/28/05 - Chris is attaching the ground pattern to the tower and to the transmitter tuning house next to the tower - Looks now like Thursday might be the day but the way this project is going it will probably rain.

Believe it or not, we tune the antenna with jumper cables - The cables are shorted from the antenna to the tower and across each leg of the tower - we start at 40' up and move up and down the cable until we reach a resistance of 50 ohms.. then we install the permanent cable "ring"

June 9th - 2005 - The new Crew - Bob and Mark have been moving forward on the project with all of the tower sections now up and the tower at 180' in the air - it's final height - only one problem - the previous crew didn't secure one of the anchors properly so Bob and Mark are now repairing the problem - Once the problem is repaired it will only take a day to install antennas and cable.. Anchor should be repaired by Saturday, June 11th..

Above - This is what happens to a tower when an anchor starts to slip - They of course fixed this very quickly but won't be able to climb the tower again until the new anchor is installed.

-------------------------------

Work has stalled again at the tower site - somehow these boys seem to have gotten in a bit of a pinch and they're not on the job site working - so we've stalled at 130' with the bottom guy at 45' and the second needing to be hooked to the stand off which is located just below the current spot where they are hooked -
Work began again on the 16th with the design of a "Gin Pole" to replace the tower section as the source of lift - This new pole will save almost an hour per section. As of Thursday, May 19th the tower is up to 130 feet.

The tower construction stalled at about 90' in the air - the first set of Guy cables are installed and another temporary set of cables is also installed at the peak of the tower while it awaits the contractor's return from personal business in Illinois. Hopefully they'll be here late this week and construction will begin again...

The Forman, Dean Poe, stands on a tower section, temporarily mounted to the side of the permanent tower. This work is at about 50 feet in the air - the first set of Guy Cables were installed just above this section at 60'
