September 8, 2012 – the 42nd Annual Lake Placid/North Elba Half Marathon & Relay.
Lake Placid/North Elba Half Marathon, also known as the “Original” Lake Placid Half Marathon will be run on September 08, 2012 on a new course, 9:00 AM start.
This year’s start will be at the Olympic Speed Skating Oval, and will end at the North Elba Show Grounds.
Course: Starting at the James C. “Bunny” Sheffield Speed Skating Oval, proceeds North, up Main Street through the center of Lake Placid, around Mirror Lake, then turning east on to Parkside Drive. The runners will then proceed to the traffic signal at the intersection of routes 86 and 73. From there, the course follows Route 73 passing the Olympic Ski Jumps to Riverside Drive, Riverside Drive is a flat, riverside run proceeding on an out & back route, returning to Route 73, finishing at the North Elba Horseshow grounds. Because this is a point-to-point race, transportation will be provided from the horse show grounds (finish) to the start of the race. Transportation will be provided prior to the race only. This will save on congestion and also provide free parking. More information will be made available in the race packets.
