Library Lunch Series – Saranac Lake Free Library
When:
November 15, 2012 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Ralph Bennett will present “Genealogy; a Path to Exciting Discoveries” at noon on Thursday, November 15 in the Cantwell Community Room, Saranac Lake Free Library.
Bennett spent his childhood in the Northern New York community of Ft. Covington. He taught Industrial Arts at Saranac Lake Central Middle School from the late 60′s until 2004 as well as working as Caretaker Director of the Guggenheim Center on Lower Saranac Lake for the past 30 years.
He began researching his genealogy in 1980 by using information his brother had gathered. Over the past 30 years he has added to the family history by carrying out research all over the North Country as well as using Ancestry.com and the US Census and various Internet sources. He has gathered information from church records, family memorabilia, county records, and newspapers throughout Franklin County and surrounding towns. Ralph has also researched friends’ extended family histories to get them started in learning about their own genealogies.
Bring soup or sandwich and enjoy a dessert and beverage provided by the Refreshment Committee. The Program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 891-4190.
