The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is pleased to host Pendragon Theatre live on the LPCA stage for three weekends of fall foliage theatre. Performances are as follows: The Last Five Years, a powerful and intimate musical on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 5, 6 and 7 at 8pm; Pinocchio based on the classic children’s story will be offered on Sunday, October 14 at 2pm; and the family-friendly entertainment Shipwrecked! on Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20 at 8pm.  • The Last Five Years starts off the Pendragon residency series at LPCA on October 5, 6 and 7 at 8pm. A powerful and intimate musical, The Last Five Years is an old story told in a new way. Two New Yorkers in their twenties fall in and out of love over the course of five years. The show’s unconventional structure consists of the woman telling her story backwards while the man tells his story chronologically.

The Last Five Years won a Drama Desk Award for Best Music and Best Lyrics. Critics have speculated that composer and lyricist Jason Robert Brown, is the next Sondheim. His musical style draws on a number of musical genres, including popjazzclassicalklezmerLatinRock, and Folk. Laura Jean Schwartau-Swanson directs Mackenzie Barmen and Brandon Patterson. Kimberly Weems is the music director. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and students.

• Pinocchio takes the LPCA stage on Sunday, October 14 at 2pm, for a final public performance. Follow Pinocchio’s journey as he tangles with tricksters and encounters mischief in order to prove he is good enough to become a real boy! Directed by Matt Sorensen with Original Music by Phill Greenland. The cast includes: Zachary Richards, Leslie Dame, Chris McGovern, Matt Sorensen, Donna Moschek, and Clare Paulson. Tickets are $10 adults, $8 ages 15 and under, $5 kids 5 and under.

• Shipwrecked! The Amazing Adventures of Louis de RougeMont (as told by himself) An Entertainment, will round out the Pendragon residency at LPCA on Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20 at 8pm. Shipwrecked! tells the tale of the real life Louis de Rougemont and his incredible 30 year adventure in the Australian outback after being lost at sea – a family friendly entertainment that the NY Times labeled “ a theatrical pop-up book”.This fun show features Bob Pettee, Mackenzie Barmen, and Tyler Nye. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and students.
