Thursday Lunch Series – Saranac Lake Free Library

Peter Benson, Director of the Saranac Lake Free Library will present the “The Role of the Librarian in the Future; What I will do to Meet those Needs,” at noon on Thursday, November 1st in the Cantwell Community Room at the library.
Benson earned degrees in elementary education: a BS from SUNY Plattsburgh and an MS from SUNY Potsdam. Later, he graduated from the University of Alabama with an MS in library and information sciences. Through the years, his work experience has included caretaking, property management and library work.
A resident of Saranac Lake since 1977, he has worked for several years in both the Saranac Lake Free Library and as librarian at the Malone campus of North Country Community College. Last spring he was hired as director of the Saranac Lake Free Library where he is introducing new ways to serve the public.
He will talk about changes in the library world and more specifically about new ideas for the Saranac Lake Free Library.
