No Border Fees Amendment Gets Unanimous Approval in Committee
The House Appropriations Committee today unanimously passed an amendment introduced by Congressman Bill Owens that would halt the proposed study of a “border fee.” Owens introduced the amendment as part of the mark-up for the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Bill.

Veteran’s Affairs Seminar
Veterans’ Affairs Seminar
Frank Karl, Adjutant, and Timothy Pierce of the NYS Division of Veterans’ Affairs, will present a Veterans’ Affairs Seminar at Saranac Village at Will Rogers, on Wednesday, November 7th, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., as part of Saranac Village at Will Rogers’ Road to Retirement Series. Karl & Pierce will answer questions on how to access veteran’s benefits if you are a veteran or veteran’s spouse, what it takes to get enrolled and what is offered at the local veteran’s clinic. The Road to Retirement Series, which began in September, features programs related to the challenges of retiring, solutions for organizing, and information on advanced directives, and will run through December.
This program is free for those 55 and older, open to the public and a special discount will be offered to new residents who attend the program and move in within 30 days of this program.
