685 voted against the budget, 512 voted in favor of the budget which means the school board will have to go back to the drawing board.
Rick Preston received 333 votes total, And interestingly He’ll be taking over immediately for John Hopkinson who received the second highest total with 295 votes.
Saranac Lake’s school board is outsourcing pre-school education which leads us to ask how much will parents be able to save with children already at local agencies who offer the Universal Pre-K programs. The program is free for participants of the two and a half hours and yet calculating the savings appears more complicated than one might expect.
There’s a new multi-use connector trail plan for Tupper Lake and the DPW has been given the go ahead to focus on their piece of the project which includes work to remove rails and ties along the railroad corridor.
The new playground will be to the left of Flanders park where the fireplaces used to be. There used to be a swimming pool there and two turnarounds and swings. It’s all cleared now and the project is set to begin at the contractors earliest convenience.

Budget Votes and School Board Elections are today. Saranac Lake 7am-8pm. Tupper Lake 12n-8pm. Lake Placid 2pm-9pm. Tupper’s School Board needs approval from 60% of voters for their budget to pass because the budget exceeds the tax cap.
High Peaks Ford and Egglefield Ford are donating $20 per test drive on Tuesday (May 22nd) to the Adirondack Health Foundation. The event will run outside the main hospital entrance from 10am until 8pm.

The Lake Placid School Board is asking voters to approve a budget of $17,264,976.00 One resolution on the ballot ask residents to allow the district to apply for an additional 10% in state building aid.. In Tupper Lake, The school board has proposed a budget that will exceed the state’s 2% tax cap.. The Property Tax Levy would increase by 8.35% and includes a spending increase of 7.64% to just over $17,000,000 dollars, up from $16,000,009 in 2012.. Voting In Tupper Lake will take place at the Middle High School from Noon until 8pm Tomorrow and will require a “Super Majority” of 60% of voters voting in favor of the increase in order for it to pass.
