Brian Latella Appointed as Lake Placid Elementary School Principal

AUDIO – 062013 – Lake Placid Elementary Principal Announced – Brian Latella

Brian Latella will start July 1st as Principal of the Lake Placid Elementary School. Lindsey Keyser is also appointed by the school board as a Special Education teacher beginning September 1st. Superintendent Roger Catania says he knows the selection committee was pleased to make the recommendations.

Goldman Says Goodbye to School Board

Saranac Lake Superintendent Jerald Goldman is retiring and will make room for Bloomingdale Principle Diane Fox on July 1st. At their regular board meeting, President Deb Lennon presented him with a placque and a resolution of thanks for his commitment to the district.

High Water Hits 19 Inches Above Spillway

State Senate Passes 22 bills for Hurricane Sandy Relief

State Senate Votes to Prohibit Novelty Lighters

The State Senate passes a bill promoting fire safety by prohibiting the sale and distribution of novelty lighters including many which have features like music, lights, and toy-like designs. The bill is headed to the assembly and if it passes there, would remove novelty lighters from store shelves
