About Steve Criss

Steve grew up right here in the North Country, graduating from Beekmantown High School ('84).  Steve has always had a dream of being on the radio and has broadcast live local sports for over half a decade!  Now, Steve doesn't have to stay in his own lane, and he's bringing Criss on Sports to NBZ-FM!

Steve, and his wife Nina, reside in Beekmantown with their three dogs, and are proud parents of two sons and two daughters.  Hunter, Ryan, Gretchen and Rachel are in their early twenties, and are enjoying strong starts in their respective careers!

    Steve has updates on the local sports scene and also a tribute to long-time Yankees announcer John Sterling.

    After more soggy weather washed out most of Section 7 sports on Friday and Saturday, local teams hope to get out and play today! Also, it was a busy Sunday in NCAA baseball and softball as the Plattsburgh State baseball team capped off a sweep at the Fredonia State Blue Devils.

  • Criss On Sports - April 12, 2024

    Rainy and wet conditions have dominated this week's Section 7 Sports schedule but there were 3 softball and 1 baseball game played on Thursday. The Plattsburgh State baseball team defeated Clarkson again yesterday at Chip Cummings Field by the score of 7-1. Chris Santic (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) earned the win on the mound despite giving up the only run in two innings of work to move to 3-2 on the season.

  • Criss On Sports - April 11, 2024

    CVAC boys' baseball highlights include Plattsburgh High defeating Saranac 9-4. Steve also has the local results of girls' softball and flag football, which were played Wednesday night.

  • Criss On Sports - April 2, 2024

    Steve recaps the Women's Final Four and gives a recap on the Plattsburgh State baseball team as they played SUNY power Cortland over the weekend. Beekmantown's baseball team will begin play today in their annual Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. Finally, the Yankees are 5-0 and the Mets have dropped to have dropped to 0-4 in MLB.
