News Anchor/Reporter

106.3 NBZ-FM, a locally focused Classic Hits station serving New York’s North Country, northwestern Vermont, is seeking a News Anchor / Reporter to lead our daily on-air news coverage.
This opening comes as our longtime anchor transitions into retirement after years of trusted service to the community. They will remain available to assist during the transition, providing continuity and institutional knowledge as the next voice steps in.
The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering:
- A 4-minute newscast during AM drive
- A 1-minute newscast throughout the broadcast day, updated if there's breaking news
This role is available locally in Plattsburgh or remotely, for the right candidate with a strong home studio setup and reliable workflow.
Responsibilities
- Write and anchor daily newscasts with a strong local focus
- Monitor breaking news, public safety, government, and community developments
- Report news accurately, without slant, bias, or conjecture
- Update and publish stories to the station’s digital platforms (web and app)
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with local sources
- React quickly and accurately to developing stories
- Maintain consistent, clean, and conversational on-air delivery
Requirements
- Experience in radio news or broadcast journalism preferred
- Strong writing and on-air delivery skills
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
- Comfortable working across on-air and digital platforms
- Familiarity with the North Country / Champlain Valley is preferred
