Young football fans will have the opportunity to exhibit their football skills when the Plattsburgh Noon Kiwanis Club hosts its 2nd Annual Punt, Pass & Kick competition on Saturday, August 16, starting at 10 am at Melissa Penfield Park, 139 Boynton Ave., Plattsburgh. The competition is free and open to girls and boys, ages 6 – 15. All participants should register online through the https://signup.com/go/vcZuSPf website (the website address is upper and lower case sensitive) for the competition. If a family does not have access to the internet, the child and a parent should arrive by 9:30 am to sign up.
The Punt, Pass & Kick football competition allows youngsters to showcase their talents in 5 skill categories: punting, passing, kicking, broad jump, and 40-yard dash. Competitors must compete in all five skills events. Separate competition categories are available for boys and girls in age categories 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15. Competitors will be placed in their age group based on their age on December 31, 2025. Award ribbons will be presented to all first, second, and third place finishers in each of the five skill categories. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 overall winners in all ten of the boys and girls age groups.
Important information about what types of shoes are allowed at the competition: NO specialized shoes with cleats are allowed. Aqua socks, tennis shoes, and sneakers/running shoes are allowed. No participants may compete in bare feet. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 75 registrants who sign up and participate.
Wendell Hughes, president of the Plattsburgh Noon Kiwanis Club, brought this competition to the club in 2024, and it was a big success! Since the motto of Kiwanis is “Serving the children of the world,” the club was overwhelmingly in favor of this exciting hands-on project that focuses on kids. “We are looking for lots of volunteers for this event and would like to hear from them,” stated Hughes.
The following sponsorships are available to local businesses: $1000 Major Sponsor, $300 T-Shirt Sponsor, $200 Trophy Sponsor, and $150 Ribbon Sponsor. The Plattsburgh Noon Kiwanis Club has been serving the North Country since 1929. The club meets on the second Thursday of each month for dinner at 5:30 pm and the fourth Thursday of each month for lunch at 12:15 pm in the Comfort Inn’s breakfast room. For more information about sponsorships, registration or to volunteer, contact Nancy Church at 518-572-5028.
