A Plattsburgh boat captain says sonar revealed thousands of tires along the bottom of Cumberland Bay in Lake Champlain. Gary Lefebvre found the tires strung together between Crab Island and the Plattsburgh Boat Basin, stretching at least 100 yards. He fears they could break loose and endanger boats or wash onto beaches. The state Department of Environmental Conservation is reviewing the discovery.
