Scarlett Johansson will headline the upcoming Exorcist movie. Mike Flanagan will write, direct and produce what's being called a "radical new take" on the franchise. Flanagan, known for The Haunting Of Hill House, Doctor Sleep and The Life Of Chuck, praised Johansson as "a brilliant actress whose captivating performances always feel grounded and real." The film will exist in the same universe as the 1973 original but won't continue 2023's The Exorcist: Believer, which earned $136 million worldwide. Universal paid $400 million in 2021 for Exorcist trilogy rights. The original 1973 film made $441 million globally and received 10 Oscar nominations. (Story URL)
