Americans would spend $1,929 to try specific foods they've been wanting to taste. A survey of 2,000 Americans found 21% have taken trips specifically for food destinations. Younger travelers lead this trend, with 44% of Gen Z and 31% of millennials taking "foodcations," compared to 21% of Gen X and 11% of baby boomers. Recent food-focused trips averaged 484 miles of travel and $910 in spending. Two-thirds of travelers say they eat more adventurously when away from home. Three-quarters research dining options before trips, spending two-and-a-half hours on average. Philadelphia ranks first for desired food destinations, with 27% wanting Philly cheesesteaks. New York pizza and Kansas City BBQ tied at 27% and 26% respectively. (Story URL)
