Daily nicotine vaping among U.S. middle and high school students who use e-cigarettes nearly doubled from 15% to 29% between 2020 and 2024. Failed quit attempts among daily teen vapers also rose from 28% to 53% during this period. Lead researcher Dr. Abbey Masonbrink from Children's Hospital Los Angeles said: "The rise in daily vaping and growing number of youth trying to quit implies that these youth are experiencing a severe level of nicotine addiction." The study analyzed five years of Monitoring the Future survey data from over 115,000 teenagers. By 2024, more daily vapers were female, Black and from rural areas, with rural daily vaping jumping from 16% to 42%. However, overall teen vaping in the past 30 days declined for both genders during the study period. (Story URL)
